Valerian is among the oldest medical plants. Already Hippocrates, the godfather of medical science, firmly believed in the medical powers of the “wonder root”.

The valerian bushes, which can be up to two meters high, prosper on brooksides, graves, and damp meadows, and in deciduous and mixed forests all over Europe. The effective components, however, are the rootstocks and roots.
